Privacy policy

Last updated: October 25, 2026

QuietFocus is a Chrome extension that blocks distracting websites during focus sessions. It is built to work without collecting personal data. This policy explains exactly what the extension does with information.

Data we collect

None. QuietFocus has no account, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking code. We do not sell, share or transfer any user data.

Data stored on your device

Your block list, allowed pages, settings, the current session and statistics (sessions, focus minutes and the number of blocked visits per site for the last 35 days) are stored in Chrome's local extension storage. They never leave your device and are deleted when you remove the extension. You can reset the statistics at any time in the extension's settings.

Your browsing

Blocking uses Chrome's declarativeNetRequest rules: Chrome itself compares addresses with your list, and the extension never reads, records or transmits the pages you visit. When a blocked site is opened, the block page receives only that address in order to show the site name and to offer the “Open the site” button after the session.

Network requests

QuietFocus checks https://quietfocus.app/ping/service each time the popup opens and downloads public announcements and update notices from https://quietfocus.app/.well-known/remote-config.json with a daily cache. These GET requests contain no personal data, cookies or identifiers. Network failures leave the extension usable offline. A confirmed maintenance response displays the product’s own live page at https://quietfocus.app/service-break/ inside the popup; it has no access to the extension’s local data. Installation and removal do not automatically open a website. Our static hosting may keep standard server logs (such as IP address and browser type) for security, for no longer than 30 days.

Permissions

declarativeNetRequest blocks or redirects the sites on your list. Site access, requested only for the sites you add, allows the calm block page instead of an error page. storage keeps your settings on the device. alarms ends sessions on time, even after a browser restart. notifications announces breaks if you enable them. activeTab reads the address of the current tab only when you open QuietFocus, so you can block that site in one click.

Children

QuietFocus does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date above. Material changes will also be announced in the extension.
